Water Rescue - Barkers Landing

At 0919Hrs, Station 55 was alerted for a Water Rescue at the Barker's Landing Bridge. M-55, 55-1 and A-55 made the Response. Deputy Chief Stratton Arrived to find an individual in the water that had jumped from the Bridge. The Individual was still conscious, however unreachable from land. Marine 55 was directed to Launch for the Water Rescue. As the tide was going out, the individual was swept downstream and completely submerged. A rapid search of the area was conducted with negative results. Station 40 (Bowers), 54(Little Creek),87(Seaford), DNREC,The Kent County Communications Command Vehicle and Kent County Medics were called to the scene to assist. A Unified Command Structure was initiated with DSP and all agencies involved. An Incident Action Plan was put together and a detailed search was conducted with shore line search, sea bottom dragging and Sonar Radar search. Crews searched for several hours with negative results. The scene was turned over to DSP at 1509hrs. The Magnolia Fire Company sends our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the victim.
