House Fire Spreads to Neighboring Homes - 182 Viola Dr

On June 12, 2016 at 1716 hours The Kent County 911 Center Alerted The MVFC along with Station 41 and Station 48 for the Assist to a reported house fire in The Meadows At Chestnut Ridge. Engine 55-4 went responding under the authority of 55-15 shortly after the dispatch and was advised that the fire had spread to a Neighboring Residence. Upon arrival of Engine 4, crews encountered large amounts of fire to the original fire building which had spread to the neighboring house. Crews began to attempt to protect the exposures on both sides of the main fire building but due to windy conditions the fire had quickly spread to both neighboring houses. At that time command 55 quickly requested additional units in the form of multiple ladder trucks, tankers, and fire engines. Crews operated for a little over 4 hours to extinguish the fire. Due to the large amount of heat, fire, and smoke multiple other residences were affected by Melted Vinyl Siding, Melted Mailboxes, Mulch/yard on fire, and CO Detector activations with high CO readings in their residences. All homes were properly inspected and ventilated to deem them safe for the residence to go back into. The MVFC would like to thank the ladies Auxiliary from Little Creek Fire Co. for providing cold drinks and sandwich’s, as well as the bowers beach and south bowers Fire Company’s for providing the cover-up while units operated at the fire.
